Dr Ákos Koller, Professor Emeritus of the Hungarian University of Sports Sciences (HUSS) and his research team are investigating what Covid-19 does to the brains of physically active and inactive people. Hungarian news portal index.hu cites that their research may answer the question whether there is a link between fitness, exercise and the duration or severity of symptoms.

The Research Center for Molecular Exercise Science, led by Dr. Zsolt Radák, has successfully submitted a grant application to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) post-Covid 2021-28 Grants Scheme.

Currently (as of March 3, 2021), the WHO has registered 114.5 million infections and nearly 2.54 million deaths associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19) worldwide. The number of Hungarian fatalities of the epidemic is over 15,000. At the current and expected rate of active immunization, even without mutants that may escape the vaccine induced adaptive immune response, to immunize 60% of pandemic populations will take several months.

The Recreation Department at the University of Physical Education (UPE) does it best to accommodate to the everchanging epidemiological situation and it suggests that despite the new circumstances, we should not neglect daily exercise.

The digital development of the University of Physical Education (UPE) is currently underway, which is represented by the LED wall installed in the lobby. The screen displays important information for students and it also features a new short film. The wall is used to draw attention to the importance of proper prevention during the second wave of the pandemic.

The 2020/2021 spring semester was a big challenge for all students. The events gradually affected the international students on the UPE Campus, who faced many difficulties during this period.

On behalf of the Director of the International Relations Center of UPE, hereby we inform you that due to the unforeseen development of the present pandemic, the 4th Sport and Innovation International Conference will not be held in October, 2020.
