Three prominent personalities of the Hungarian University of Sports Sciences (HUSS), Dr habil. Márta Szmodis, Dr habil. Tamás Sterbenz and Dr habil. László Tóth have been appointed as university professors.

The Hungarian University of Sports Sciences (HUSS), the National Handball Academy (NHA) and the Handball-Specific Methodology Centre held the 5th Sport and Innovation Conference between 14 and 16 September 2022. The joint sports science event focussed on the issue of talent and performance.

The list of competitors representing the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) at the European University Games (EUG) in Lodz has been finalised. It is the first time that a Hungarian higher education institution is going to participate at the EUG with 102 athletes and a total delegation of 126 participants.

On 6 May, which is the Day of Hungarian Sport, the Wall of Hungarian Sports Stars was inaugurated at the Hungarian University of Sports Sciences (HUSS) in a ceremony amidst huge media interest.

A six-member delegation led by the rector of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS), dr. Tamás Sterbenz, met with the leaders and representatives of 11 international sports federations in Lausanne that is known as the home of federations on 26 April.

Last week, Dr. Tamás Sterbenz, Rector and Dr. Judit Kádár, Director of International Relations have visited Sports University of Tirana (SUT). It was Dr. Tamás Sterbenz's first international trip as a rector, and several relevant discussions fostered our collaboration with our Albanian partner.

Recently the University of Physical Education has hosted a special event organized by the Hungarian Embassy in the Philippines. The University of Physical Education welcomed seventy Philippine students studying in Hungary at this unique “Alumni Event”.

Dr. habil. Tamás Sterbenz ceremoniously received his mandate as rector of the University of Physical Education from President of Hungary János Áder in the Sándor Palace. According to the decision of the President, the appointment of the new rector lasts for 5 years, taking effect from 1st October, 2021.

Dr. Tamás Sterbenz, the newly elected rector of University of Physical Education of Budapest has ambitious plans. In his view, UPE will need to “change gear” and become an influential actor in the field of higher education.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the representatives of the University of Physical Education have participated a one-day visit to fulfill the invitation of the Embassy of Bern and to strengthen the partnership with our new institutional partner, the University of Bern.

As the saying goes in sports, Dr. habil. Tamás Sterbenz, Vice Rector for General Affairs at the University of Physical Education (UPE) had to be away from the pitch for two weeks, but he is back at work now. He is looking forward to a busy period because the National Accreditation Board’s (MAB) accreditation procedure and the development of UPE’s educational programmes give him enough work to do in the near future.  

The main organisers of FISU World Forum, the University of Physical Education (UPE), the Hungarian University Sport Federation (HUSF) and the Technology Provider Digital Success Program (DSP) expect different benefits from the Forum. The leadership delegation of the Beijing Sports University was hosted by the University of Physical Education (UPE) management and the International Relations Center. The five-member Chinese delegation came to renew the cooperation of more than 15 years between our institutions, to find and negotiate about new opportunities.

A 10-member Taiwan delegation was hosted by the leadership of the University of Physical Education (UPE) and the International Relations Center. We have been in contact with the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) through the National Taiwan Sports University (NTSU) and now a meeting was held on the new UPE campus.

The delegation of the University of Physical Education has traveled to Germany for launching a new academic partnership. During the two-day visit, the representative had formal and informal meetings.

Dr. Tamás Sterbenz, Vice rector for general affairs and Dr. Judit Kádár, Director of the International Relations Center, visited the University of New Mexico in October.
