Tamás Sterbenz received his mandate

Dr. habil. Tamás Sterbenz ceremoniously received his mandate as rector of the University of Physical Education from President of Hungary János Áder in the Sándor Palace. According to the decision of the President, the appointment of the new rector lasts for 5 years, taking effect from 1^st October, 2021.

As previously reported, the senate of the University of Physical Education (UPE) proposed former vice rector Tamás Sterbenz on 25^th August to be nominated as new rector of UPE to replace the outgoing rector Prof. Dr. h. c. Lajos Mocsai.

This step had to be taken because Lajos Mocsai had previously accepted the offer to become the chair of the board of trustees of the UPE’s foundation and he had to step down from his position as rector on 31^st August, 2021. Mr. Sterbenz subsequently acted as an acting rector.

President of Hungary János Áder gave Tamás Sterbenz the mandate to act as rector in the Sándor Palace on 27^th September. Mr. Sterbenz’s mandate starts on 1^st October 2021 and ends on 30^th September 2026.
