At the invitation of the Klebelsberg Kuno College for Advanced Studies, Nobel Prize–winning research biologist Katalin Karikó gave an online lecture at Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS). The event is certainly of historical significance, as a Nobel laureate had never given a lecture at the university before.
On March 19, Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) hosted a special online guest, the Nobel Prize–winning biologist Katalin Karikó, who was invited by the Klebelsberg Kuno College for Advanced Studies. She became the first Nobel laureate to lecture at the university.
Her talk highlighted her journey from humble beginnings in Hungary to global scientific recognition, overcoming early career setbacks and remaining committed to mRNA research. Her work with Drew Weissman led to breakthroughs that enabled Covid-19 vaccines and earned her the 2023 Nobel Prize.
Beyond science, she emphasized perseverance, lifelong learning, and the importance of supportive relationships. Attendees not only met a world-renowned scientist, but also an inspiring, humble person.
