Shanghai Ranking: HUSS moved up more than 100 places in 2025

The Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) has been ranked in the 101–150 range in the latest Shanghai Ranking by subject, which evaluates sports science institutions worldwide. In the 100th anniversary year of HUSS’s founding, the university achieved a significant advance of more than 100 places, in line with its institutional goals.

The Shanghai Ranking (officially ShanghaiRanking Consultancy) is one of the most prestigious international higher education rankings. It evaluates universities by academic disciplines and overall within the framework of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), based on objective indicators such as publications and citations.

Shanghai Ranking has been publishing its rankings since 2003, helping researchers and students choose high-quality institutions. In the previous year, HUSS was placed in the 201–300 range - exact positions are only announced for the top 50 - but this year, thanks to a substantial increase in academic activity, high-level research work, and a notable growth in scientific publications, the traditional Hungarian sports university has achieved a much higher position.
