Training of Volunteer Coordinators for the Budapest 2023 IAAF World Athletics Championships Continues

The training of volunteer coordinators for the Budapest 2023 IAAF World Athletics Championships continued at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) on May 25, 2023.

During the course of the second training, the volunteer coordinators were shown other important functional areas.

Guest lecturers included director responsible for the security of the World Championships, Tamás Kis and his colleagues, Head of Security of the National Athletics Centre, András Kristóf, and Head Coordinator Ágnes Kovács, who presented the main activities of the security area, the tasks of the volunteers and the most important challenges related to the organisation.

Crisis Manger Gergely Áron Horváth presented the crisis management system of the event, and Accreditation Manager Máté Vaskuti reported on the accreditation processes and rules of the World Championships. The programme was closed by a presentation given by Director of Transport, Fruzsina Károssy, who outlined the plan for smooth urban transport for athletes, delegates, media and other groups arriving in the country.

"The key players in the World Athletics Championships, as in all world events, are the volunteers who are the invisible driving force behind the event. Volunteer coordinators will help us to organise their involvement smoothly, and their training is therefore very important for us," said Dr Szilvia Perényi, Director of the Volunteer Programme and a teacher at our university.

The training of volunteer coordinators will continue on 7 June, 2023, when the leadership of the organising committee will be hosted at HUSS.
