The 30th Congress of the European Committee for Sports History (CESH) will take place at Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) in Budapest from 9 to 11 June 2027.Under the theme “Stars, Wars and Sporting Stardom,” the international event will bring together scholars, researchers and postgraduate students to explore the history and cultural significance of sport.

During a three-week training programme held for coaches and coach educators delegated by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Goutam Singh Virdi, the leader of the Indian group, high performance director in taekwondo at SAI gained valuable insights into coach education and sports science at Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS), while exploring opportunities for future cooperation between the two countries.

Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) held the first official International Teaching Week in its history from 12 to 16 October. During the event, teachers from foreign universities delivered lectures on a variety of topics to HUSS students and other participants.

As part of International Teaching Week, Dr Beatrix Borbás welcomed Eleni Stamatiou Cruz, a renowned Athens-based lecturer with Erasmus Nostrum, who led a three-day English-language course introducing Hungarian and international students and colleagues to the intricacies of academic speaking, academic presentations, public speaking, and intercultural communication.

As part of International Teaching Week, Markus Arvaja and Dr Gunel Aslanova delivered guest lectures on topics including sports motivation and mental preparation at the invitation of Dr Noémi Gyömbér, Associate Professor at the Department of Psychology and Sport Psychology.

The findings of an American study support aspects of earlier theories proposed by Sonkodi Balázs, research professor at Hungarian University of Sports Science and his colleagues concerning the relationship between Piezo ion channels and Alzheimer’s disease.

A lecture series titled Scientific Playground has been launched by the Department of Sports Medicine. The revived event aims to present the research conducted at Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) and within the department to a more specialized professional audience.

Hungary is to host the 2029 European Universities Basketball Championship (EUC), following a decision made by the European University Sports Association (EUSA) on October 24. The event will be organised by Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) and its sports club, TFSE, in cooperation with the Hungarian University Sports Federation (MEFS).
