Successful International Partner Day at UPE

On 1 October, the day before the 3. Sport and Innovation International Conference, the University of Physical Education (UPE) has welcomed international guests on the International Partner Day. During the event, several meetings were held with delegations from various partner institutions.

In the afternoon, two contractions were signed by Prof. Dr. h. c. Lajos Mocsai Rector of UPE. One with the Waseda University, Japan and the second with the National University of Defense Ukraine. The cooperation between Waseda University and UPE was developed by a new Cotutelle Agreement between the two universities' Doctoral School, expanding the existing university relationship. The Ukrainian side has initiated a cooperation as a new partner institution. The special guest of the reception was the Austrian Ambassador in Budapest, Mag. Elisabeth Ellison-Kramer, who was also informed about the development of our Austrian relations due to UPE teacher training program in Burgenland next year. Duvan Reynerio Ocampo Pinzón on behalf of the Colombian Embassy attended the Rector’s Reception, and he invited the Colombian Ambassador H. E. Carmenza Jaramillo for the opening ceremony of the conference. They could meet and discuss the ongoing research projects and planned institutional relations with Rector Mocsai and International Relations Director. We could host a Colombian athletes group, whom had the opportunity to meet Ágnes Kovács, Olympic gold medalist swimmer, member of the UPE International Office. The participating Columbian students were provided an opportunity to take part in movement analytic measurements provided by the generous hospitality of the Department of Kinesiology.

In the morning, discussions were held with institutional representatives from Manila, Japan, Austria and Albania. In addition, representatives from London Metropolitan University, Marymount University (US) and the United Campus of Malta / Lugano explored the new lines of the particular partnerships. Dr. Zsombor Lacza, Scientific Vice Rector and Dr. Tamás Sterbenz, Vice Rector for General Affairs, Prof. Zsolt Radák, Head of the Doctoral School, and Dr. Ágota Lénárt, Head of Psyhology Department were the most active participants of the partner meetings.

The University of Pedagogy Burgenland had a fruitful operative conversation with Péter Szájer and the International Relations Center about a joint training program in field of physical education to be launched in September 2020, both in Austria and in Hungary. The organization process is to be completed and the program promotion is to begin soon.

As a result of the partner meetings, the strategic development of our international network has been effectively enhanced, while the internationalization of UPE has also been enriched with active partnerships in Europe and beyond.
