International Coaching Course graduation ceremony takes place at HUSS

The graduation ceremony held on 29 November 2023 marked the end of the autumn course of the International Coaching Course (ICC) that brought together foreign students from 16 countries at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS).

For more than 30 years, young talents from many countries have had the opportunity to develop their skills by participating in the joint international training programme of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS). The course is supported by the IOC's Olympic Solidarity (OS) programme. A special feature of the course is that only one candidate per country is admitted, exclusively in an Olympic sport.

In the absence of the Rector Professor Tamás Sterbenz, it was Vice- Rector for General Affairs Dr Csaba Ökrös and Head of the International Relations Directorate Dr Judit Kádár represented the university at the graduation ceremony.

In his speech, Dr Csaba Ökrös emphasized that students from all over the world bring a new impulse to education. He added that one of the teachers’ is to inspire students, who reflect on the training, which is also feedback for the staff.

In her speech, Judit Kádár stressed that everyone from HUSS was looking forward to the new group of NET students as the training is a meeting point for different cultures.

The event was also attended by Erik Molnár, Ambassador of Hungary to Namibia, who praised the achievements of the foreign students. This was the first time in the history of the course that someone had obtained a diploma with excellent results. The credit goes to the Brazilian water polo specification scholar Maria Cosmo, who received a special prize for her achievement.

Those teaching in the programme deserve huge praise. They are the ones who have been making a name for the university on the international stage for more than 30 years.
