The catchball team of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) finished fifth out of twelve teams at the Winter Corporate Games international championship.
As part of the Winter Corporate Games, which includes competitions in multiple sports, an international catchball championship was held on February 15 and 16 in Brașov, Romania. The team of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (abbreviation in Hungarian: TF) was also invited to the event, competing under the name HUSS Team.
Several employees from different organizational units were part of our team, including Dr Nóra Csokonai from the Legal Directorate, Bernadett Szilágyiné Gáldi from the Department of Sport Management, Alma Németh from the Directorate of Communication and Event Organization, Katalin Újj-Horváth and Dr habil. Andrea Gál from the Department of Social Sciences, as well as Bernadett Kincses, a student specializing in recreation and lifestyle.
The female team members of TF have been holding training sessions for quite some time in catchball that closely resembles string ball. As a partner, our university is involved in the Less4More Erasmus+ Project, aimed at promoting recreational sports activities for women.
In the 12-team tournament, alongside the hosts, teams from Israel and France also participated, and the TF team achieved an impressive fifth place. However, what is even more important is that the organizers awarded the HUSS Team the trophy for the best foreign team, not only for their strong performance but also for their sportsmanship displayed during the exciting matches.
Catchball is an increasingly popular sport worldwide, therefore it would be worth involving more women in this sport in Hungary, which is perfectly suitable for various age-groups, and offers a great opportunity not only to improve physical endurance but also to relax mentally.
On this occasion, the Office for Social Relations (TKI) will organize a mini-tournament at 1:30 pm on 12 March in the temporary tent as part of the celebration of International Women's Day. They are expecting teams of six people to register via email at
