The first Malaysian-Hungarian Rectors' Forum was held on February 10, 2025, organized jointly by the Hungarian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Hungarian Rectors' Conference.
The event was represented by a thirteen-member delegation from the Hungarian Rectors' Conference (MRK), mostly consisting of rectors and vice-rectors, including Professor Tamás Sterbenz, Rector of the Hungarian University of Sports Science.
The event was attended by approximately thirty institutional leaders from Malaysia, while Hungarian higher education institutions were represented by a thirteen-member delegation from the Hungarian Rectors' Conference (MRK), primarily consisting of rectors and vice-rectors. The attendees were welcomed by Dr Petra Ponevács-Pana, the Hungarian Ambassador, on behalf of Hungary, and by Professor Sibrandes Poppema, the President of the host institution, Sunway University, on behalf of Malaysia. The forum was then officially opened by Professor László Borhy, the President of MRK. The goal of the forum was to deepen the existing Malaysian-Hungarian higher education relations in both scientific and educational fields.
Professor Tamás Sterbenz, Rector of the Hungarian University of Sports Science highlighted the national significance of sports and the role the university plays in this field, while Professor Majid Movahedi Rad, Vice Dean for Science at the University of Széchenyi István, emphasized the importance of universities' cooperation with industrial partners in his presentation.
