It has been 70 years since a Hungarian male figure skater last achieved such a prestigious place at the FISU Winter World University Games, formerly called the Universiade, as TF's Alexander Vlasenko has done now.
The 2025 Winter World University Games were held in Turin from January 13-23, 2025. Aleksandr Vlasenko, a student at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF), finished in an impressive 11th place among 32 competitors in the men's competition, which is the best Hungarian men's figure skating result in the history of the Universiade in 70 years. During the short program, he was the second-to-last to perform his program choreographed by Ádám Sólya. The Triple Axel and the triple Flip-triple Toeloop jump combination were executed excellently. The judges rated his spins at the highest level, so he awaited the continuation in 12th place with a score of 68.87 points.
"I am very happy to compete here, and I am glad that I performed the short program flawlessly!", Aleksandr said after the program.
The continuation was even better, as he skated an almost perfect free skate, in which he magnificently executed two Triple Axels and a triple Flip-triple Toeloop jump combination. With this, he finished 11th place in both the free skate and overall. Júlia Gór-Sebestyén and Szabolcs Vidrai's student expressed satisfaction after the free skate, as he achieved his best total score of his life, skating over 200 points in total!
