The Institute of Sport Science at the Humboldt University of Berlin organised the Berlin School of Movement Science’s three-day scientific programme for the 8th time between September 30 and October 2. Two researchers of the Department of Kinesiology at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) and four students participated in the event.
During the three-day programme, internationally renowned researchers presented their latest advances in the fields of biomechanics and motor control in high-quality and easy-to-understand lectures. The audience consisting of more than 120 people was able to learn about applied biomechanics research in addition to basic research.
András Hegyi, research fellow at the Department of Kinesiology, said:
"It's extremely important that students meet internationally renowned researchers as soon as they can and gain an insight into the work of outstanding laboratories. As opposed to larger conferences, smaller gatherings like the one in Berlin allow for much more direct communication between participants and speakers. I feel it is my mission to create as many similar opportunities as possible for students interested in biomechanics. The next similar event will be the Biomechanics Symposium at TF next week, for which registration is open until Monday.
"During these three days we had the opportunity to take part in high quality lectures given by outstanding researchers in their fields and to establish international contacts," said Eszter Pocsai PhD student. “We were also able to gain an insight into the very high quality research activities of the university's Institute of Sports Science. The experience and new knowledge gained here will be very useful for my doctoral studies."
Fannia Veszeli, a student of the MSc in Human Kinesiology also enjoyed the scientific trip.
"During short-term mobilities like this we learn about a wide range of subjects, which is useful for expanding our knowledge. These days, I have been able to listen to high-quality biomechanics lectures, from which I have learned a lot of new things."
Luca Mezei, MSc in Human Kinesiology, was also present at the three-day programme.
"The university welcomed us in a very friendly environment. In addition to interesting lectures, we were able to participate in a laboratory tour, during which innovative research was presented. For me personally, it was a great experience to see all this
modern equipment and instruments in action. I am grateful to have been able to participate in this programme."
Research fellow Bálint Kovács emphasized that the discussions with Dr Falk Mersmann could greatly facilitate the research work at the TF and could lay the foundations for cooperation with the Berlin research group.
The mission was made through the Pannonia Scholarship Programme.
