Olympic silver medallist Krisztián Rabb says he likes studying at TF

Krisztián Rabb, the youngest member of the Hungarian men's sabre team that won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, is a BA student at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF), and has no regrets about having applied to TF, as he is already using much of the knowledge he has gained here.

In the last few days, Krisztián Rabb, a third-year student of the BA coaching course of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) has been particularly popular with the media. At the age of only 22, he won a silver medal at his first Olympics as a member of the Hungarian men's sabre team alongside renowned and experienced fencers including Áron Szilágyi, András Szatmári and Csanád Gémesi.

"I'm extremely happy to give interviews, I'm enjoying being popular. It feels good because I've worked hard for this," said Krisztián Rabb. “I was very close to my childhood dream of winning an Olympic gold medal, but on the day of the final the Korean team was stronger than us. We gave everything we could, but I still feel a bit frustrated, but at the same time I can be happy with the silver medal."

Krisztián Rabb has built his career step by step. When he started fencing, he was less clear about his goals, but in 2012, at the London Olympics, a year after he started fencing, he was there to cheer for Áron Szilágyi, who won the first gold Olympic medal of his career in the individual sabre competition. The experience left a huge impression on him.

"This was the moment when I decided that I wanted to be an Olympic champion and that I wanted to follow the same path as Áron Szilágyi. From that moment on, I was ready to compete in the Olympics and win a medal. I am very grateful for my coach, Béla Somlai, who has managed a lot of great champions," we understood.

He is currently the youngest member of the Hungarian men's sabre team, but it might change soon. Csanád Gémesi is 37, Áron Szilágyi is 34 and András Szatmári is 31, and although they all have the potential to appear in another Olympics, Krisztián will be the senior in the foreseeable future.

"It's strange to think that I'm the youngest in the team now, but that doesn't last forever. I'm still learning from the older ones, but sooner or later there will come a time when I'll have to help the young ones," Krisztián reflected.

The great fencer has been a student of the BA coaching course at TF for three years now, and as he said, he has does not regret having applied to TF at all.

"I really like TF, and I really enjoy going to classes, which I find extremely useful. I find that I can use what I learn here for my own development. There are a lot of classes that have taught me how to schedule and structure my workouts, so I can become a bit of my own coach."
