The Erasmus+ project "Involving and empowering women in and through sport" (Less4More) has reached its half-way point, with a four-strong delegation representing HUSS at the international championship series held in the city of Kavala from 8-10 July.
Bernadett Szilágyiné Gáldi, Nóra Csokonay, Katalin Újj-Horváth and Bernadett Kincses, with two Austrian and two Spanish players, were part of the so-called international team and competed in three sports against one team from Greece and two teams from the Romanian project partners.
The "International Team" finished second in football and catchball, while in beach volleyball they won the gold medal. The HUSS delegates and their teammates thus finished as silver medallists behind the host Greek team.
Another event of the Less4More project was the "Women recreational sports festival. A legacy that must go on", an international conference on women's recreational sports, which focused on bringing women's recreational sports into international focus and balancing them with competitive sports. It attracted over 50 participants from twelve countries.
At the end of the second day medals and certificates were awarded in the three sports of the tournament.
The project leader and coordinators Dr. Andrea Gál, Dr. Judit Farkas, and Judit Grandpierre as well as the involved of BA Recreation and Lifestyle students aim to further increase the number of participants in the women's recreational physical activity programme, which will also count on the participation of colleagues working at the university and the residents of the district. Between 23-30 September 2024, the women will be able to compete again in the framework of the European Sports Week, when a national tournament is planned to be organised in the same sports.
