The International Days 2024 (IDIH 2024) at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) were organised by the International Relations Center (IRC) on 17 and 18 April.
During the International Days, we had the opportunity to meet representatives of universities of the highest quality from all around world. Brigham Young University from Utah, the Sports University of Tirana from Albania, Charles University from Prague, the University of Nex Mexico and the National Taiwan University of Sport, among others, came to Budapest.
This year the event consisted of two parts, the first day was the International Partners' Day, which included a Rector's Reception and partnership meetings with the National Taiwan University of Sport, the Sports University of Tirana, University of Zagreb, Brigham Young University.
At the Rector's Reception, Zsombor Gaál, International Relations Center staff member welcomed the guests, followed by speeches by Prof. Tamás Sterbenz, Rector and Dr Habil. Judit Kádár. Three new agreements were signed during the reception. Our University signed successful cooperation agreements with the Sports University of Tirana, SicSport and the National Taiwan University of Sport. These agreements will further strengthen the university's international cooperation and pave the way for further mutually beneficial relations in the fields of research, education and cultural development.
During the first day, visitors had the opportunity to take a tour of the university campus in the morning and afternoon, and in the late afternoon, they were invited to join a sightseeing tour of Buda.
The second day was devoted to "Internationalisation in practice". The presentations started at 10 am and the day opened with a presentation by Tamás Jankó, who introduced the RRF Project. Afterwards, a short coffee break gave the participants the opportunity to network and get to know each other, which was followed by a presentation at 11 am by Dr Nicole Tami from the University of New Mexico. The presentation titled "International Partnerships - Best Practices in the U.S. & Lessons Learned" provided the audience with a very interesting insight into processes and best practices in the U.S.
After the lunch break, from 1 pm Dr Erzsébet Csereklye gave a lecture entitled "The Intercultural Classroom". The audience was treated to a very interesting and lively interactive presentation. From 2 pm onwards, Dr Gyöngyi Pozsgay gave a very interactive lecture, again involving group work, on "The Role of Student Services in Enhancing International Student Experience".
The final presentation of the day was a round table discussion on the international student experience, during which the students of the university were free to discuss their experiences so far. The panel discussion was attended by students from the university's Doctoral School, Erasmus+ scholarship students and students from the newly launched Sport Diplomacy Program. The discussion was moderated by Nóra Széles, member of the International Relations Center.
At the end of the event, the participants had the opportunity to take part in the International Get Together, where guests and students had the chance to relax and have fun together.
