During his trip, Tamás Sterbenz was introduced to the country's education system and innovation ecosystem, and met with the Hungarian Minister of Culture and Innovation, János Csák, who accompanied the Hungarian delegation to the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The representatives of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference were received by the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohamed Ayman Ashour, and Egypt’s President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, who has excellent relations with the Hungarian government and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The Egyptian side is keen to establish a Hungarian university campus in Egypt, however, discussions are still ongoing.

During his schedule, Tamás Sterbenz also held negotiations with Egyptian businessman Mohamed Idris, who represented his father, the Egyptian Olympic Committee’s and the Egyptian Swimming Federation’s President, also member of the International Swimming Federation's Executive Board, Yasser Mohamed Ibrahim Idris.

The parties discussed the possibilities of launching a short-cylce (three-month) multi-sport program at the Hungarian University of Sports Science. HUSS’s expert for sports federation relations Dénes Lukács, who is a renowned water polo coach in Egypt, played a major role in the preparation of the project. We are delighted that the link with Egypt will open new doors not only to other African countries but also to those in the Middle East.
