Gábor Farkas, assistant professor of the Department of Combat Sports at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) participated and successfully completed his studies in the Olympic Solidarity Programme announced within the framework of the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Programme (ICECP).
Gábor Farkas specialises in freestyle wrestling. He wrote his application in the development of freestyle wrestling, more precisely in the development of coaching.
"The training consisted of five modules, including online classes and a three-week course in the United States," said Gábor Farkas. “The practical part took place at the University of Pennsylvania, home to the best wrestling team in the world, and I put together my project at the world-renowned University of Delaware. The presentation of my six-month project took place at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. IOC President Thomas Bach welcomed us personally and presented us with our diploma."
Gábor Farkas also works at the Methodological Institute of the István Kozma Wrestling Academy, where he and his colleagues have recently launched a secondary coaching course. Of course, the knowledge and experience he has gained in the United States is not the only thing he would like to put to good use on home grounds.
"I put a lot of emphasis on the development of coaching education in my work, and I have already incorporated my overseas experience into the BA coaching education at HUSS. I am currently working as an assistant professor at the Hungarian University of Sports Science, but I would like to become an associate professor," added Gábor Farkas.
