Erik Szabó, graduate student at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) studied and worked abroad as a sports science researcher.
At the age of twenty-four, Erik Szabó has considerable professional experience and knowledge. He is currently a graduate student at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS), where he is studying exercise physiology (MSc) and previously graduated in Recreation Management and Health Promotion.
He also has experience of working abroad: he spent a year at the world-renowned German university Technische Universität München (TUM) as a student of Sport and Exercise Science, while working as a sports science researcher.
"I won an Erasmus scholarship at the University of Munich, and even though I had a chance to go to the world-famous University of Cologne as well, I had heard so many good things about Munich that I finally chose it. In fact, I applied for half a year, but after a while I thought I would like to stay for another semester because I liked it so much. I took a number of interesting courses including biomechanics and exercise physiology and the latter subject in particular caught my attention. Besides my studies at HUSS, I work in a performance diagnostics laboratory. In the future, I would like to use my growing knowledge in various sports science fields."
He studied English and German at the University of Munich, and he had to do a presentation in English already in the first week, but after a while German became the "dominant" language and the internship was also in German.
"As German sports science is very advanced and world-class, I was keen to gain experience in Germany. I studied the language in primary school and then in secondary school, and my knowledge “got activated” in Munich, and by the second semester I was already quite fluent. My English also improved, so I was able to practice and develop both languages in addition to the skills I had acquired," added Erik Szabó.
The nice young man is an active footballer acting as a striker for Dunavarsány in the county first division, and after recovering from a knee injury (he had his knee operated in Germany) he is getting back his shape.
He scored one of the most important goals of his life in Munich, so to speak.
