Natália Rácz, a graduate of the MSc sports management programme at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS), has been working at the European Handball Federation (EHF) for three years. She owes her position at this prestigious international sports organization not only to her theoretical knowledge but also to her practical experience.
In recent days, Natália Rácz, also known as Nati, visited her Amla Mater, the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) as a guest lecturer. She had received her master’s degree in sports management at HUSS in 2022. That same year, she applied to the European Handball Federation, where she was immediately offered a job.
Nati’s past played an important role in the fact that she got a job immediately at one of the biggest European sports organisation.
She played handball competitively for eleven years, and during her studies at HUSS, she worked as an assistant and researcher at the Sports Economics and Decision Sciences Research Center, led by Rector Tamás Sterbenz. Later, accepting the rector’s invitation, she continued my work at the Sports Office.
Between 2017 and 2022, she took on various roles at numerous international sporting events, including the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship, the U21 European Football Championship, the Women's Handball Champions League Final Four, and the 2022 Men's European Handball Championship co-hosted by Hungary and Slovakia. She also volunteered at international swimming, water polo, and fencing events, including men's Water Polo Champions League matches.
Over the past three years, she has been entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities at the European Handball Federation. In her expanded role, she is involved daily in organizing senior and youth continental tournaments. As an event logistics manager, she regularly attends Women's and Men's Champions League matches and Final Four tournaments, where she is primarily responsible for VIP-related tasks.
She really enjoys working for EHF because she always has to face new challenges, the working atmosphere as well as her colleagues are simply excellent. Through the Respect Your Talent programme she participates in, she has the opportunity to meet current and former famous handball players as well.
For now, Nati plans to stay in Vienna, as she enjoys her work at the EHF. However, this doesn’t mean she won’t return to her Alma Mater from time to time.
"It's also beneficial for me to come back to HUSS occasionally and help those who are preparing for a similar career path as mine. It still feels a bit strange that not long ago, I was sitting in the classroom, and now I'm acting as a lecturer. However, it’s a great confirmation that I’ve done a good job," she concludes.
