After decades, the university’s women's basketball team TFSE-MTK has a chance to be back on the international stage if it succeeds in going through the qualifiers against UFAB49 from France in the European Women's Basketball EuroCup on Wednesday.
TFSE-MTK's women's basketball team will play in the qualifying round of the second most prestigious European cup series, the European Cup (EuroCup) against UFAB49 from France. The stakes are high: the winner will secure one of the five Regular Season tickets available via the qualifiers.
If TFSE-MTK makes it through the qualifiers, it will advance to Group B, where it will face Poland's Lublin, Greece's Panathinaikos and Spain's Hozono Global Jairis. Just to remind you, Hungarian first league teams Sopron and Pécs are already in the main group stage of this year's European Cup.
Last time TFSE-MTK has played an international game was in 1972 when it reached the best eight in the women’s European Champions Cup.
The first leg of the European Cup qualifier will be played at the Dr. Koltai Jenő Sports Centre at 18:00 CET Wednesday 18 September, while the second leg will take place in France on 25 September.
Admission to the home game is free, so come and cheer on the team at the Dr. Koltai Jenő Sports Centre.
