Volunteers are ready for the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Budapest

The Volunteer and Sustainability Office at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) is playing a major role in the organisation of volunteers for the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships to be held in Budapest from 22 to 26 May.

Hungary will once again host a prestigious sporting event: the 40th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will be held in the Papp László Budapest Sports Arena between 22 and 26 May 2024. Organised by the Volunteer and Sustainability Office of the Hungarian University of Sports Science, a total 350 volunteers will be working in 15 different areas to ensure that the highest standards of service are provided to the athletes and national delegations.

Preparations were carried out during last weekend, and the team of volunteers can no wait to see the beginning of the event. Volunteers were given a tour of the Papp László Budapest Sports Arena and were given the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the layout and tasks of the venue, including media, VIP, competition management, sports presentation and the processes involved in the various positions.

"I am delighted that representatives of different generations are getting on very well. We can already see how volunteers with many years of experience and 'newcomers' with a love of the sport complement each other and form a team. The university students studying sports science, including TF coaches, recreation and sports organisers, will gain extremely valuable professional experience as they will experience first-hand the whole process of organising an international sporting event, from the set-up of the venues, through the operational part of the competition, to the breakdown", said Dr Szilvia Perényi, head of the RGEB2024 volunteer programme, TF lecturer and colleague of the newly set-up TF Volunteer and Sustainability Office.
