The website Hazaváró was created to support the return of young transboarder Hungarians and those living in the diaspora.
The first Hazaváró-pont (Welcome Home Point) was opened last year in the 11th district in Budapest, as part of the Hazaváró-program (Welcome Home Programme). In the future, 27 more similar helpdesks will be opened nationwide, with the aim of encouraging the homecoming of transboarder Hungarians and those living in the diaspora through facilitating the administrative procedures involved.
The government's intention is to support young Hungarians living in the Carpathian Basin and the diaspora to return home to Hungary, whether they speak the language or not, whether they are Hungarian citizens or not. It is known that more and more Hungarians, even second or third generation ones, born abroad, would like to return to Hungary.
The programme has also set up the Welcome Home website, which offers simple and easy-to-use menus to find information on employment, learning, administration, family, finance, health and housing. The portal is also a great help for students participating in international scholarship programmes.
