HUSS students win four medals for Hungary at the Summer World University Games

Students of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) won two silver and two bronze medals at the Chengdu Summer World University Games that ended on 8 August.

From 28 July to 8 August, the Chinese city of Chengdu hosted the world's largest multi-sport university event, the Summer World University Games (WUG). A total of 6,500 athletes from 113 nations took part in the event.

Hungary was represented by 113 student athletes, 18 of whom came from the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS). The Hungarian delegation won three gold, eight silver and six bronze medals. We are pleased to announce that four students from HUSS also contributed to this success.

Gergő Horváth finished second in the men's individual sabre (fencing) competition, while Bendegúz Ekler won a silver medal as a member of the Hungarian water polo team. The lightweight double sculls duo consisting of Bence Szabó and Kálmán Furkó (HUSS) finished third, and Edina Kardos, a member of the women's epee (fencing) team also won a bronze medal.

In addition to the medals, our athletes achieved several valuable placings. One of the most outstanding of these was the fifth place of the women's basketball team that included four HUSS students: Berta Boros, Anette Kenyeres, Andrea Király and Réka Mányoki.
