A total of eight researchers from six national universities and organisations contributed to the publication edited in Nature including the Head of the Department of Physical Education Theory and Methodology at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS),  Dr habil Tamás Csányi and his colleagues.

Nature (Q1, IF:69,504), one of the world's leading multidisciplinary scientific journals, published the results of the latest data analysis of the NCD RISK Factor Collaboration (NCD-RisC) (Non-Communicable Diseases Research Network) covering the whole world, including Hungary on 29 March.

In the multi-author publication titled "Diminishing benefits of urban living for children and adolescents' growth and development" data on height, weight and BMI of 71 million young people aged 5-19 years in 200 countries (and parts of countries) were analysed between 1990 and 2020.

The results show that the growth and development benefits of urban living have declined in much of the world in the twenty-first century. An interesting finding is that Hungary had one of the largest differences in height between urban and rural children and adolescents worldwide in the 1990s, but this difference has decreased significantly by 2020.
