Andras Hegyi and Annamaria Peter attends International Society of Electrophysiology and Kinesiology (ISEK) conference

Dr Andras Hegyi and Dr Annamaria Peter, scientific staff members of the Department of Kinesiology, represented Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) at the ISEK conference, where they gave presentations and expanded their professional network.

The annual conference of the International Society of Electrophysiology and Kinesiology (ISEK) took place in Jyväskylä, Finland, between June 24 and June 27. At the event, Andras Hegyi gave a presentation as part of an international expert group in a workshop titled “Hands-on muscle neuromechanics: Practical integration of ultrasound and HD-EMG.”

The goal of the workshop was to show how muscle mechanical and electrical functions can be studied together using the latest technologies.

Patricio Pincheira, Eduardo Martinez-Valdes from the University of Birmingham, and two researchers from HUSS’s partner institution, the Politecnico di Torino, Luigi Cerone and Professor Alberto Botter, also gave presentations at the workshop.

Annamaria Peter held important discussions about future cooperation with Professor Taija Finni from the University of Jyväskylä, who was also her former PhD supervisor. Annamaria Peter previously worked with her on research related to Achilles tendon rupture. The goal of the meeting was to restart this research collaboration and involve HUSS PhD students in it.

“Understanding the biomechanics and adaptations of muscles and tendons is extremely important in sport performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. In this field, research and innovation opportunities are developing very quickly. Integrating and transferring new methods and knowledge to students is a very important task, which can help us carry out pioneering research at HUSS in the coming years. I think that later we will look back on this year's ISEK conference and the professional discussions there as an important milestone,” said András Hegyi.
