Seventeen international students received their diplomas of Hungarian University of Sports Science’s (HUSS) most prestigious international programme, the International Coaching Course (ICC), supported by the Olympic Solidarity Programme.
Sixteen countries, 17 students, four sports disciplines – this sums up in numbers the spring course of the International Coaching Course (ICC) at Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS).
Naturally, HUSS’s most prestigious international program, ICC, supported by the Olympic Solidarity Programme, is about much more than numbers: learning, unforgettable experiences, professional connections, lifelong friendships, and living the Olympic spirit.
The program’s greatest strength lies in its balanced emphasis on both sports science foundations and practical approaches, delivered by HUSS’s outstanding lecturers, researchers, and sports professionals.
This spring, 17 students from all around the world had the privilege of participating in the program. Diplomas were awarded in four areas: general conditioning (five students), wrestling (five students), basketball (four students), and handball (three students).
In addition to the lecturers and instructors involved in the ICC program, two distinguished guests attended the graduation ceremony: Deqa Niamkey, Development Director of United World Wrestling (UWW), and Zach Erret, UWW Education Manager.
The opening speech was delivered by Dr Csaba Ökrös, Vice-Rector for General Affairs, who emphasized that the students had done outstanding work over the past two months. He expressed his confidence that the knowledge and experience gained at HUSS would continue to benefit them in their professional careers. He also noted that they had now become members of the university’s Alumni community and would always be welcome to return and seek support from the institution in the future.
On behalf of the students, Kelsey Tanika Toussaint-Reid and Daniela Koleva delivered a joint speech, highlighting that the 17 coaches participating in the program had gained not only professional knowledge but also new friendships and shared experiences. They stressed that both Budapest and the university had provided an important learning environment for them. The graduates said they had arrived as strangers but were leaving as friends, carrying the memories and experiences gained here with them forever.
The best students of the class were Kelsey Tanika Toussaint-Reid and Jonah Camps, who received special recognition.
